Wednesday, November 15th, 2017, St. John’s, NL – The St John’s Edge of the National Basketball League of Canada are pleased to announce the successful signing of Shooting Guard Carl English.
“On behalf of the St John’s Edge, we are excited to give Carl English the opportunity to play at home,” said Robert Sabbagh of Atlantic Sports Enterprises Ltd. “We understand the experience, talent, and commitment that Carl brings to this team and we are excited that he wants to be here to help us build a championship program, we also want to acknowledge the work and effort put in by Coach Dunlap and John Graham.
Carl English, a native of Patrick’s Cove, Newfoundland, played in the NCAA with the University of Hawaii where he currently ranks 7th on their all-time scoring list. English, 6-foot-5, 205 pounds, continued his professional career mostly in Europe, where in 2013, English captured the scoring lead in the Spanish Basketball League. English has also showcased his talent as a member of the Canadian National Men’s Team.
“To play at home, where it all started for me, it’s going to be exciting not only for me, but our fans,” said Carl English. “I want to thank the Edge ownership, Management and Coach Dunlap for the incredible opportunity to play in front of my hometown fans, I am excited to join the Edge and contribute towards a successful Inaugural season.”
The Edge Inaugural Season officially gets underway Saturday, November 18th versus the Island Storm as part of a five-game road trip before debuting on Home Court at Mile One Centre on Friday, December 1st versus the Niagara River Lions.
