Tuesday, February 20, 2018, St. John’s, NL - The St. John’s Edge of the National Basketball League of Canada has acquired Anthony Stover from the Niagara River Lions for Future Considerations and are pleased to announce the successful signing of Xavier Ford.
Anthony Stover, a native of Pasadena, California, played three seasons with the Saint John Riptide before joining the River Lions earlier this season and is currently averaging 4.80 points, 6.90 rebounds and 2 blocks per game. Stover, 6-foot-10, 230 pounds, suited up for 25 games with the South Bay Lakers of the NBA’s G-League during the 2012-2013 season. In 2015, Stover played for the Rochester Razorsharks in the Premier Basketball League, helping the team to a 17–0 record and league title.
Xavier Ford a native of Colorado Springs, Colorado, played four seasons with the Buffalo Bulls in the NCAA where he averaged 5.12 points, 3.54 rebounds per game in 104 games. He was awarded the Mid-American Conference Tournament MVP during the 2014-15 season with the Buffalo Bulls. Ford also brings NBA G-League experience to the Edge lineup as he appeared in 38 games with the Grand Rapids Drive during the 2015-16 season where he recorded 2.68 points and 1.45 rebounds per game. Most recently Ford suited up for the AB Contern of the Luxembourg Total League where he put up 24.83 points and 10.72 rebounds per game, in 18 games.
Both players will remain inactive on the roster and will join the Edge at a later date.
