Edge Sign Tra-Deon Hollins as IR Designate for Obinna Oleka
St. John’s, NL – The St. John’s Edge announced today that the team has signed Omaha, NE native, Tra-Deon Hollins as the Inactive Reserve Replacement for Obinna Oleka (Inactive – Mexico).
Hollins, 6’2” 190lbs, started his career at Chipola Community College (NJCAA). Following his sophomore season, the point guard transferred to the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Hollins would perform well for the Maverick’s, finishing his collegiate career averaging 12.95 points per game and 6.33 assists per game. He was named the Summit League Conference Defensive Player of the Year in both 2016 and 2017. Also earning the honour of All-First Team selection’s in the same two years.
Tra-Deon was a first-round NBA G-League selection in 2017, being drafted by the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (Affiliate – Indiana Pacers). In 2018, Hollins re-signed with the Mad Ants, where he last played in February of 2019 before his contract was placed on waivers.
This season for the Mad Ants, the 6’2” point guard played in 30 games, averaging 7.27 points, 7.90 assists, and 2.47 steals. He shot 39.7% (81-for-204) from the field and 76.2% (48-for-63) from the charity stripe.
The Edge are happy to welcome Tra-Deon Hollins to the organization and are looking forward to him suiting up for the team in their next series against the KW Titans on March 12th and 13th at Mile One Centre.
