Friday, January 19, 2018, Niagara, ON - The St. John's Edge (12-7) lead by 33 points from Charles Hinkle held off the Niagara River Lions (9-12) 99-97 in a tight match Friday night.
St. John's Edge:
Charles Hinkle led the Edge with a double-double comprised of 33 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 assists. Hinkle was an impressive 11-11 from the free-throw line. Desmond Lee continued his strong play as of late by contributing with 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. Newcomer Russell Byrd got into 8 minutes of action and recorded 2 points and 2 assists in his first game in an Edge uniform.
Niagara River Lions:
The River Lions were led by Guillaume Boucard and his double-double of 34 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 assists. Carl Hall chipped in with 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists.
Inside the Numbers:
St. John's went 30-for-64 (88.2 percent) from the free-throw line, the club also scored 30 points from inside the paint.
The River Lions went 24-for-33 (72.7 percent) from the free-throw line and had 34 points contributed from players off the bench.
